Dan Adams
President & CEOAs President and CEO of The Capital Corporation, Dan Adams is responsible for the overall operations and strategic direction of the company as well as its relationships with its affiliates and portfolio companies.
Mr. Adams co-founded The Capital Corporation in 1991 as an investment banking firm focusing on mergers and acquisitions to the middle market. Since the firm's founding, Mr. Adams has led The Capital Corporation to become one of the largest and most influential merger and acquisition boutiques in the Southeast.
With over 30 years of experience in finance, Mr. Adams has directed over 200 merger and acquisition transactions during his career. Mr. Adams has advised companies in various sectors including, finance, health care, manufacturing, service, home décor, restaurant, transportation and waste industries. Mr. Adams is Chairman and serves as a board member of several privately held companies in the southeast.
Mr. Adams is an active private equity investor with investments in a broad range of industries including: Consumer Finance; Chairman and managing shareholder of Rowley Company, a company in the window treatment industry with operations across North America; Restaurant industries operating a chain of family restaurants centered in the Houston market through Lorraine Enterprises; and the Consumer Health industry through Access One Consumer Health, a national Discount Medical Plan organization with offices in the Carolinas and Texas.
Active in civic affairs, Mr. Adams has proudly served on several non profit boards including The University of South Carolina's Board of Trustees, USC Upstate, Chairman of Palmetto Promise Institute, The Greenville Museum Association, Artisphere Festival, the Upstate Heart Ball where he served as Chairman of the Open Your Heart Campaign, the Rose Ball (as 2023 chairman), and the Greenville Symphony. He has also served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Upstate. and is a past President of the South Carolina Investors Network (SCIN).
Mr. Adams was the recipient of the 2008 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award presented by the University of South Carolina Upstate in recognition of his many professional accomplishments and philanthropic work. In 2018, he was inducted into the Greenville's Most Influential People Hall of Fame.
Mr. Adams has served on The Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education since 2009. The Commission plays a participatory and advisory role for USC. In 2015, Mr. Adams was appointed to the Board of Directors of the USC Upstate Foundation. This Foundation oversees Foundation fund-raising efforts, makes grants to the University for strategic initiatives and manages endowment funds.
Prior to co-founding The Capital Corporation, Mr. Adams was with C&S National Bank for 12 years and is a graduate of University of South Carolina Upstate and the Banking School of the South at Louisiana State University.
Mr. Adams is an active and committed alumnus of USC Upstate and supports the University with philanthropic gifts and service. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg.
